COVID-19 Notification

June 12, 2021

We were recently informed of an additional case of COVID-19 connected to Glendon School. As we now have five confirmed cases associated with our school, we expect Alberta Health Services to designate us as being in outbreak status. As we shared previously, AHS has assigned an EI Number to the school that should be used by anyone who has been identified as a close contact when they book an appointment to be tested for COVID-19. This will assist with contact tracing. The EI Number for Glendon School is 2021-EI-7297.

Out of respect for this individual and in accordance with AHS guidelines, we cannot disclose personal details. Students and staff who are considered to be close contacts of the individual have been directed to stay home and await further direction from Alberta Health Services.

If you have not received a phone call, your student has not been identified as a close contact at this time and can continue to attend school. Glendon remains open for in-person learning for students in Kindergarten to Grade 3 with the current protocols that are in place for students and staff. Students in grades 4 to 12 will be learning from home during the week of June 14-18.

We remind parents/guardians of students, as well as staff, to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19. Please remember to complete the COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist each day prior to sending your child to school.  If your child has any of the symptoms on the checklist, please keep them at home and fill out the Alberta Health Services COVID-19 online self-assessment or call Health Link at 811. If your child is tested for COVID-19 and the test result is positive, please contact the school as soon as possible so we can begin the process of identifying close contacts and informing them of the need to quarantine.

We know this information may be upsetting for some of you and your children may have questions about what is happening.  AHS has developed COVID-19 information for young kids and students to help answer children’s questions. We have also shared additional resources on the NLPS website. If you, or anyone in your family, needs someone to talk to, the Mental Health Help Line is available 24/7 at 1-877-303-2642.

We will continue to provide additional information to parents/guardians as it becomes available. For further information regarding COVID-19, please visit COVID-19 info for Albertans.
